Kaplan Warns About Social Networking


You never know who may be looking at your Facebook or Myspace page, including 10% of admissions officers, says Kaplan. In most cases, the social networking pages of applicants lessened their chances of admission.

With more adults using Facebook this practice has emerged in the career world. 12% of hiring managers check similar sites, resulting in 68% of applicants checked not being offered the job.

Jeff Olson, the executive director of research for Kaplan says, "If you post the off-color story, party picture, or trash talk between friends, you may be posting something your future admissions officer, future employer, future spouse or future children may have access to."
